About the Artist
Tamara Martinez was born in Santa Marta, Colombia. From a very early age, her love for music and dance was very apparent. As a child she performed in all the dance performances at her school. In 2015, she traveled to Belgium and represented her native Colombia in two world dance festivals, Dance in Da Stand an Hello Schoten. She now resides in Los Angeles where she accompanies her father Eduardo Martinez, Afro-Colombian Drumming and Dance workshops in collaboration with Casa Del Mexicano, Tarima y Tambor (a series of workshops provided to the community at Plaza de La Raza), and most recently in collaboration with Alliance for California Traditional Arts as a instructor in the Reentry program.
