Xochitl Morales

Mexican Mariachi and Ranchera Music

Xochitl Morales is a multi-instrumentalist mariachi, community educator, researcher, and culture bearer from Delano, CA. They are a third generation musician, learning under the tutelage of their father and well-respected mariachi musician, Juan Morales. After attending Harvard University in 2018 for their B.A. degree, they returned to the Central Valley to continue teaching mariachi to the community through The Mariachi Studio – the Morales family music studio. Dedicated to uplifting the lived experiences of immigrant and working families in the valley, Xochitl’s practice as a musician and culture bearer includes composing new music and poetry, supporting local organizing, and creating new ways to teach and share their cultural heritage.
