Susan Park

Susan Park was born in Seoul, South Korea. Her family moved to Los Angeles when she was 5 years old. She remembers her parents recreating the traditional Korean kitchen in their first house in the San Fernando Valley in the 1970s. They made jang, Korean fermented soybean pastes and soy sauce in their backyard. It is through these memories that she makes jang today.

Korean Jang is Life

Funding will support a series of traditional Korean fermented paste–making workshops in Los Angeles. The grant will cover the purchase of clay pots and materials, and will culminate in a food tasting event and a cultural/artistic exhibition.
