PASACAT Philippine Performing Arts Company
Philippine traditional arts
PASACAT Philippine Performing Arts Company’s mission is to preserve and promote the Asian Pacific culture through the arts, thereby, extending goodwill and enhancing cultural understanding. PASACAT has four major performing components — Senior Company, Junior Dancers, Rondalla/Percussion Instrumentalists, and the Harana Singers. PASACAT offers year-round programming of traditional Philippine dance and seasonal programming of Rondalla and choral music at the PASACAT Center.
In 2012, PASACAT received a grant from ACTA’s Living Cultures Grants Program to support year-round traditional Philippine dance and music instruction to students, with a focus on youth between the ages of 5 and 21, in the San Diego region. The comprehensive program introduces students to the regional styles of dance, music, costumes and cultural practices of the large island nation. Master artists Joji Ramirez Caster, choreographer and dance director, and Anamaria Labao Cabato, Rondalla music and choral director, will oversee the students’ learning experience.
