Mythili Prakash

A second generation Indian and American artist, Mythili Prakash has toured her own solo productions in the United Kingdom, Canada, Europe, India, Singapore, the United States and Mexico, performing at venues such as Sadler’s Wells (London), Music Academy (India), Jacob’s Pillow (USA), & Esplanade Theatres (Singapore). She is the recipient of the National Dance Project touring Grant (NEFA) for her work “She’s Auspicious” and was nominated by Akram Khan as “choreographer of the future” for Dance Umbrella’s (UK)2019 Festival. She toured in Akram Khan Company’s “Outwitting the Devil.” Mythili’s work AR|DHA was commissioned and presented by Jacob’s Pillow, featured in the “America(na)- I am” festival at the Pillow in June 2022. She is a recipient of the Sky Art’s Artists Development program in collaboration with Akram Khan Company for her work One|All which premiered at the “Festival in Motion” in Doha, presented by Qatar Museum, curated by Benjamin Millepied.

“She’s Auspicious”

Funding will support the documentation of “She’s Auspicious,” a Bharatanatyam and Karnatik work featuring an all female cast including Prakash, and explores myths surrounding the Goddess Devi, highlighting the dichotomy between the worship/celebration of the Goddess and the way women are treated in society.
