Kirti Bassendine is a renowned South Asian artist and documentarin based in California who combines her traditional cultural roots with modern practices. Her work emphasizes sustainability, local ecology, and traditional methods of extracting colors from nature. Kirti’s artistry is about telling a story and inviting people to consider the deep connections between art, nature, and sustainability. She has had her photography shown at the De Young Museum in San Francisco. Kirti has taught these forms of artmaking for over 7 years to rural students in the San Benito County as well as private workshops.

Connections to the Natural World

Kirti Bassendine aims to create a workshop series to promote cultural awareness and knowledge sharing through indigenous demonstrations using Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK). These workshops will provide a platform for Kirti and local indigenous artists to showcase their skills and share their cultural practices.
