Joti Singh
Punjabi Bhangra and Guinean dance
Joti Singh is a choreographer, performer, and instructor of Bhangra dance from Punjab, India, and dance from Guinea, West Africa. She is the founder and artistic director of Duniya Dance and Drum Company. Joti has traveled to Guinea several times to study with master dancer Moustapha Bangoura and other members of Les Ballets Africains. Growing up in Atlanta, Georgia, Joti learned Bhangra from the Punjabi community, including her parents, uncles, and aunts.
In 2008, as a participant in ACTA’s Traditional Arts Development Program, Joti attended Camp Fareta in Central California and Camp Bamaraya in Georgia to be mentored by master Guinean dancer Youssouf Koumbassa.
