Long Beach pinpeat ensemble
The Ho Chan Ensemble is a Long Beach based pinpeat ensemble lead by Master Ho Chan. Master Ho Chan was born and raised in Battamabang, a province in western Cambodia. He was trained in the Battambang style, with improvisational techniques that is distinct from the pinpeat of other regions of Cambodia. He has transmitted his knowledge of this tradition to his students, who together form the Ho Chan Ensemble. Since settling in the United States Master Ho Chan and his ensemble has performed extensively, including the Carpenter Center, the Getty, and the Malibu Festival of Sacred Music.

“50 Years of Remembering”
Funding will support initial work to arrange, rehearse, and perform sections of a 50-year reunion concert to unite artists who taught and performed in the Thai refugee camps between 1979 and 1990, to various audiences throughout California.
