About this Organization

Filhos de Bimba Bay Area School of Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian cultural organization founded with the aim to preserve and spread the cultural art of capoeira. Capoeira is an African-rooted manifestation and foundational expression of Afro-Brazilian culture that incorporates martial art, traditions, history and philosophy. We strive to preserve the artform’s history, culture, traditions and philosophy in the United States and provide a foundation for practitioners of all backgrounds. We use capoeira and other arts from the African Diaspora as a tool to uplift the community and provide an alternative activity that cultivates wellness, physical activity and personal growth. We strive to ignite the desire within each student to express themselves through this Afro-Brazilian art form.
