DelinaDreamProductions

As a grantee of ACTA’s Living Cultures Grants Program in 2015, DelinaDreamProductions will receive support for the documentary Bare Soles Bare SoulBare Soles Bare Soul will explore the sociocultural experience of eight African American women who have studied and practiced various traditional African dance styles in-depth at Oakland’s Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts.  The documentary will address the art form’s impact on the constructs of identity, race, gender, and sexuality.  Bare Soles Bare Soul will raise questions about self-concept, body image, lifestyle, and community, and how these have been shaped or transformed as a result of participation in traditional African dance. Additional 2017 funding will support the editing and a dissemination plan for the documentary.
