Arte Américas

Latino arts and culture

Arte Américas is a Latino-focused arts center with a broad range of interests from the traditional to the contemporary.  A nonprofit center that has developed and programmed since 1987 in downtown Fresno, Arte Américas serves a region of the Central Valley that is over 40% Latino.  Over the 23 years, traditional arts have held a place as a core value and focus of the center, who often collaborates with local community artists and groups.  Highlights of such programming includes: Manos Divinos, a collection of Oaxacan folk art from 5 rural communities and donated to us as a permanent collection; Familia, Fe y Fiesta, a study and exhibition of traditional Mexican nacimientos; Grandes Maestros, a touring exhibit of Mexican folkart; and many more.  Their signature program is an annual Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, celebration, in which both contemporary and traditional artists are invited to participate.

As a grantee of ACTA’s Community Leadership Project in 2013 and 2010, Arte Américas received core operating support and capacity building training.
