Nicole Maria Dance

About the Artist

Nicole Maria is a multi-award-winning dancer based out of Oakland, California. She has been studying, teaching, and performing contemporary and traditional forms of Arabic dance for over a decade. In 2019, she was a featured soloist in the prestigious San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival, representing Egyptian Raqs Sharqi. Nicole teaches and performs as a solo dancer and in several dance companies throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. With a degree in Cultural Anthropology and World Music, Nicole is interested in the intersection of culture and dance and the study of dance in its sociocultural context. As a performer, she is interested in portraying both contemporary and traditional forms of Middle Eastern and Central Asian dance as well as dances from Turkey, Greece, and the Balkans.
