Since its inception in 2016, 4C LAB has served more than 16,000 Los Angeles-based students, audience members, and community participants countywide. 4C LAB’s methodology starts with creating a safe space for young people to share their stories through artistic expression. Through a culturally responsive and healing-centered approach, youth are empowered to create art that not only reflects challenging times in their lives and hardships they face in their diverse and under-resourced communities, but inspires them to start to advocate for positive social impact, creating solutions and tangible change, and share their hopes and dreams for the future. Our programs foster resilience, well-being, and empowerment through positive, culturally relevant art-making experiences. Our data research proves that our programming inspires positive mental health and well-being, leadership development and skill-building, and elevated civic engagement.
