Swapan Chaudhuri Digital Archive and Library

North Indian tabla music

In 2021, a grant from ACTA’s Living Cultures Grant Program will support the launch of the Swapan Chaudhuri Digital Archive and Library (SCDAL). Two years in the making, SCDAL will be a virtual learning experience and comprehensive archive of over 40 years of audio and video recordings and written transcripts of classes taught by Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, a revered master teacher of the North Indian percussion instrument, tabla. In addition to thousands of hours of audio and video instruction, the archive will also include recorded concerts, interviews, photographs, and other media, giving present and future generations of students and musicians access to one of the tabla’s most celebrated teachers.
