Peony Performing Arts

Bay Area Asian/Asian-American/Pacific Islander Dance Music Theater

Founded in 2003, San Francisco’s Peony Performing Arts promotes Chinese cultural values through the performing arts, with an emphasis in classical dance and Kunqu, a 600 year-old form of Chinese folk opera.  Peony Performing Arts engages the public and encourages participation in this rich cultural legacy through performances, classes and workshops.

As a participant in ACTA’s Traditional Arts Development Program in 2007, Peony Performing Arts worked with consultant Francis Wong to improve the organization’s position for project and capacity building funding.  Activities included creating a one-year written plan and proposal writing.
