Los Paisanos
Mexican folkloric dance
As a participant in ACTA’s Traditional Arts Development Program in 2005, Los Paisanos, a nearly 50-year-old Mexican folkloric dance ensemble and program based at Selma High School in the San Joaquin Valley, attended the Las Cruces Mariachi Festival Workshops in New Mexico. At the festival, students participated in workshops with the renowned director of the Ballet Folklorico de la Universidad de Colima, Maestro Rafael Zamarripa. Los Paisanos incorporated the new dances they learned into their performance repertoire.
