Scottish Great Highland bagpipe
ACTA’s Apprenticeship Program in 2011, with apprentice Ian Douglass. The apprenticeship focused on playing accompaniment to Highland dancing, as well as a study of Piobaireachd, the classical music of the bagpipes.
In 2008, Ian was a master artist in ACTA’s Apprenticeship Program with apprentice Earl Braten. Their apprenticeship emphasized the study of Piobaireachd and the traditional oral language of the music.
In 2005, Ian was a master artist in ACTA’s Apprenticeship Program with apprentice David Mock. Their apprenticeship focused on improving David’s skills so that he can continue to advance in competitions and perform for the community at weddings and funerals.
