Celebrating our composers and singers of the Valley

Canciones del San Joaquín brings together ten original songs written by artists who live, work, and create in California’s Central Valley. Across genres such as chilenas, mariachi, norteño, arpa grande, son jarocho, Latin rock, Afro-Latin jazz, nuevo canto, and hip-hop/Mixtec rap, the compositions in this album embody memory, migration, and rooted creativity. Inspired by the idea of Greater Mexico—where culture transcends borders and generations—these voices share everyday stories from one of the most culturally rich regions in the country. From family to field, school to stage, these are the sounds of the San Joaquín Valley today.
