About the Artist
Jennifer Malone is a Wukchumni elder who had dedicated her life to preserving and passing on cultural traditions to all who are willing to listen. She contributed to the preservation of the Wukchumni language with her mother Marie Wilcox and the creation of the Wukchumni Dictionary. With the wide recognition of the short documentary “Who Speaks Wukchmni”, Jennifer has gained traction from many seeking knowledge of the dying culture, along with language she practices basket weaving, storytelling, ceremonies, and many other traditions. Jennifer’s passion shows through her dedication and exquisite basket-weaving. She has been generous with her knowledge and is keeping her culture alive by passing it to future generations.
