Pasadena Community Job Center
Pasadena Community Job Center connects skilled day laborers, both men and women, for a variety of services. They have been a part of the community for 14 years providing over 12,000 jobs to skilled workers. Affiliated with the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, they are committed to providing health and cultural opportunities as well.
A project of the Pasadena Community Job Center called Son Jarocho y el Fandango con la Comunidad Jornalera will be supported by ACTA’s Living Cultures Grants Program in 2016. The day laborer community of the Pasadena Community Job Center and neighboring worker centers will engage in Son Jarocho verse writing and fandango workshops with culture-bearer Cesar Castro. These workshops will serve to lift up the first-person voices of the immigrant community in song and engage those who do not typically participate in the arts or the fandango practice.
