With LA County Dept of Mental Health community health educator Maria Moreno, Building Healthy Communities Boyle Heights, and Alliance for California Traditional Arts. For all ages!
Following are the list of workshops and materials needed. If you need support gathering any of these materials, please contact us ideally a week before the workshop date.
We encourage you to attend all the workshops since they relate and build off of each other, but that is not required.
July 21 Testimonies on art and culture routines (Juana Mena y Omar G. Ramírez)
Materials: journal or paper and a pen or pencil
July 28 Planting seeds of healing: How to use plants to heal (Dalila Mendez y Oscar Vargas)
Materials: Organic potting soil, small pots, 2 packs of lavender seeds
August 4 The rebozo [shawl] for wellbeing: affirming our healing for grief and loss (Luz Marlene Cordero, Ofelia Esparza, y Rosanna Esparza Ahrens)
Materials: Tissue paper or newspaper or any kind of soft thin pliable paper, pipe cleaner or twist wire like from a loaf of bread, scissors
August 11 Love is liberation: reconnecting with our LGBTQi2S community (Adriana Martinez, Cecy Garcia, y Vaneza Mary Calderón)
Materials: Your imagination and participation.
August 18 Music heals us: collective songwriting to move forward (Cecy Garcia y Vaneza Mary Calderón)
Materials: Paper/journal, pen/pencil, Instrument- shaker which you can make with: a water bottle with cap, toilet paper roll w/ tape, easter egg, empty egg shell, (decorate if desired) and inside: beans, rice, buttons, safety pins, seeds.
