Allyson Allen: Piece-ful Protest Quilts & Slogan Journals
The Arts Area Exhibition at CASA Pitzer
Artist Allyson Allen will be presenting an exhibit of protest art quilts in Ontario, CA beginning Feb. 11. Each quilt focuses on an issue of social or global concern. The quilts document ongoing racism, xenophobia, and misogyny. Because the protest quilts have modern themes, abstract modern quilts will hang alongside the protest pieces. Each quilt has an accompanying handmade journal, with protest flyers, newspaper articles, and blank pages for viewers to write in comments. This exhibit is sponsored by the 7 Degrees of Inspiration Award and the Laguna Beach Arts Alliance.
The Arts Area curates a series of exhibitions hosted at CASA Pitzer. The opening reception is during the Ontario Art Walk.
