An independent, nonprofit state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, connecting Californians to ideas and one another in order to understand our shared heritage and diverse cultures, inspire civic participation, and shape our future.

The California Council for the Humanities’ (CCH's) has several programs designed to connect Californians and foster understanding by uncovering personal and community stories that, once gathered and woven together, tell the story of today's California.

California Stories currently has several funding opportunities that may be of interest to the folk & traditional arts field, including the California Documentary Project and the Community Stories.
